DGIST Research Internship 2025 in South Korea

The Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) Graduate School Research Internship for International Undergraduates is a prestigious opportunity that offers undergraduate students a chance to engage in high-level interdisciplinary research at one of South Korea’s leading research institutions. Program Overview

The DGIST Graduate School Research Internship is structured to allow students to immerse themselves in cutting-edge research across various scientific disciplines. The program is open to undergraduate students from both DGIST and other international universities, fostering a diverse academic environment.

Internship Period: June 30, 2025 – August 8, 2025 (6 weeks)

Application Period: March 10, 2025 – March 21, 2025 (by 23:59 KST)

Result Announcement: Mid-April 2025The program is designed to cultivate research potential by involving students in projects that address real-world scientific challenges. Interns will work under the supervision of experienced faculty members and researchers, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching academic experience.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the DGIST Research Internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Status: Applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduate students who have completed at least four semesters by the time of application. Recent graduates who are not currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program are also eligible.
  • Nationality: Applicants must hold foreign (non-Korean) nationality.
  • Korea-Based Students: D-2 visa holders who are currently studying in Korea are also eligible to apply.
  • Academic Performance: A cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher is required.
  • Language Proficiency: High proficiency in English is essential as the program and research activities will be conducted in English.

  • Application Form (DGIST format)
  • Student Status Confirmation Letter issued by the home university
  • Academic Transcript (must indicate cumulative GPA and GPA scale)
  • Letter of Recommendation from an academic advisor or faculty member (DGIST format)

All documents must be submitted in English. Applicants should ensure that their academic advisor’s email address is correctly provided in the application, as the system will send a direct link to upload the recommendation letter. The deadline for recommendation letter submission is March 28, 2025.

  • Financial Support: KRW 930,000, which includes the dormitory fee and daily living expenses, will be provided to the participant’s Korean bank account after arrival.
  • Accommodation: Interns will be provided with dormitory housing at DGIST.

  • Certificate of Completion: Participants who meet the completion criteria will receive a formal certificate recognizing their successful participation in the program.

Note: Program participants are responsible for their own international and domestic transportation, visa application fees, health insurance, and other miscellaneous costs.

  • Recommendation Letter Submission: Ensure that your academic advisor submits the recommendation letter by March 28, 2025.
  • Result Announcement: Shortlisted candidates will be notified by mid-April 2025.
  • Internship Participation: Selected interns will begin their research work at DGIST from June 30, 2025, to August 8, 2025.
